At Sturgeon Slayers, we have always believed that conservation and world-class angling can go hand in hand. Today, we are proud to announce a historic milestone: owner/operator Kevin Estrada has once again broken his own record for the largest white sturgeon ever landed. Returning guests from  Diamond Truck Centres, the western Canadian dealer for International Motors in BC, Alberta and Saskatchewan, led by Anders Sorensen and Travis Meiklejohn were treated to connecting with a fish they were not expecting. Guests Shawn North and Elvis Penton reeled the fish in where it was measured and scanned for a tag. Incredibly this sturgeon was untagged.

Measuring 356cm fork length and a 153cm pectoral girth this fish is the new record on rod and reel for a white sturgeon.

This achievement represents far more than a record fish. It is the result of nearly three decades of dedication to the protection, research, and conservation of one of North America’s most remarkable freshwater species.

Since founding Sturgeon Slayers, Kevin dedicated his career to educating anglers, promoting responsible catch-and-release practices, and advocating for the long-term sustainability of Fraser River white sturgeon. Every fish they encounter is treated with the utmost care and respect, ensuring future generations can experience the same awe and excitement that these prehistoric giants inspire.

This latest record-breaking sturgeon is a testament not only to the health and resilience of the Fraser River ecosystem but also to the collaborative efforts of guides, anglers, researchers, Indigenous communities, conservation organizations, and government agencies that continue to support the protection of this incredible fishery.

In 2025, he received the King Charles III Coronation Medal in recognition of my contributions to sturgeon conservation and service to the community. This award reinforced what has always been our mission at Sturgeon Slayers: to leave the resource better than we found it and to inspire others to become stewards of the river and its wildlife.

While records are exciting, the true measure of success has never been the size of a fish. Success is seeing healthy sturgeon populations thrive, educating the next generation of anglers, supporting scientific research, and ensuring the Fraser River remains one of the world’s premier destinations for sustainable catch-and-release sturgeon fishing.

As we celebrate this new record, we remain committed to the values that brought us here: conservation first, education always, and a relentless passion for protecting these magnificent fish.

Sturgeon Slayers would like to thank our clients, supporters, conservation partners, and the entire Sturgeon Slayers community for being part of this journey. This achievement belongs to all of us.

The record may have changed, but our mission remains the same: protect the fish, protect the river, and preserve this incredible resource for generations to come.
