Blog and Video on Beads
Beads- Like I talked about it the video they are important for spacing of the gear and provides us with a warning when the fish is getting close to the boat. I have seen people using 2 beads above the swivel and 2 below the swivel. This is a preference to the angler. Personally I use 2 and 2 as well. 1 and 1 is fine, I just like I little more spacing. As I mentioned about taking off the weight, it is important. Not only for safety reasons when bringing the Sturgeon into the boat. But it also is better for the fish. Some people using smaller leaders will in fact have that weight hitting the fish. This will happen in a case where the Sturgeon is bigger, with a larger head or nose. Those who Sturgeon fish regularly will be able to understand what I am talking about. My recommendation is usually longer leaders min over 2 and a half feet longer. Color of the beads make no difference at all.
